' Frankly, I got more out of reading this little book, written by 'just a guy who loves and wants to do right by Jesus,' than any of the exhaustively 'cutesy' full-fledged books that have been written by any number of the 'denominational darling' authors that, invariably, we are snookered into buying for that weekly "Men's Devotional Group'" or "Connection Group" or whatever the popular religious marketing rhetoric may be in any given season. Make no mistake – there never was a detailed record kept of what each soldier or officer did at any given time. She has lost her status as the greatest country on earth. Gwenyth Swain's thoughtful new book "Sojourner Truth" is for beginner readers. Much to my surprise, Ambrose Bierce turned out to be not only a great author but also a great story teller, and, having fought through the Civil War (rising from the status of a 19 year old volunteer private with a three month enlistment to become a Captain in topography by war's end) he developed an innate understanding of what it is like to fight a fratricidal war from the very bottom up.
